I have joined Facebook

Well Facebook won. Now I have two web things to maintain. Wish me luck, I'm scared.

Big Thunder Mountain Sketch Card

YEE HAW!
So I thought I'd do some sketch cards that feature some Disney World attractions, me being a big theme park nerd, and the first is Big Thunder Mountain. Plus these will give me an excuse to practice painting something other than the human figure.
Enjoy,

Temple Stones Sketch Card

Kali MA! KALI MA! Man that part in the Temple of Doom soundtrack used to send me under the covers (probably still does).

Raiders of the Lost Ark Idol Sketch Card

One of the coolest relics from the Indy movies. I've painted this guy several times in the recent past, and finally got a reproduction at home. Card is 2.5"x3".

Headpiece of Ra sketch card

I'm thinking I'll do one of all the movie relics, and eventually frame them all around a larger image of Indy. That would look cool. Sketch cards are 2.5"x3". Initial pencils below.

College Professors are cool.

I recently finished some new "Sketch Cards" so here's the first one, "College Professor Indy". I should totally rock this look for class right? Card is 2"x3.5". Pencils below.

Wolverine step two

So technically I have finished this painting (see a sneak peek below), but I'm only going to give you an image of the next major stage of a painting like this, the rough first color blocking in. I did a color rough so I knew what colors were going to be there, I just needed to generally start to place the colors.

Nemo page, process pics!!

So I have fielded a bunch of questions about the look of these Nemo pages, so I thought I'd post some process pics with some commentary.

I didn't snap any pics of the pencils, this page was fairly tightly penciled, but it was a little looser than what I would have done if I had  given it to an inker. So we start with some mostly finished inks.
Close ups of last panel before and after finished inks.

Now I mask off the last panel so I can break out the Ol' airbrush. I add a mixture of 2 to 3 ratio liquid acrylic  to water and start spraying.

All the grey on the big panel done.

Peel off the mask and add some value to the bottom panel.

Page with all the grey value added. All that's left is to add the white .

Just add acrylic white.

Closeup.

Nemo proceeds

So I just finished a new batch of pages and have finally settled on a "look". When I showed these to Mark Schultz (my super cool co-creator) he thought they looked like a black and white movie. Soooo, the look shall be Neo-Black and white movie. What do you think?
