I did this for Periodic Heroes
I like the Harry Potter movies (I've never read the books,...sue me) but I've always been frustrated by the fact that one sniper could have taken out Vold-e-hoosits from a football field away. BAM war over, go to second period.  That's why those wizards stay in England, the second amendment. tee hee.

In class demo. INK DRAWING!

In my Materials and Techniques class, we did something that is fun, and a bit nerve racking, ink drawing. No pencils first, just using ink as a drawing medium. I found a bunch of random photos online and had them draw what they saw. I also forced them to use specific inking mediums, and some were a bit unusual. Below is what I came up with.

 

Above was drawn with a stick (like, from tree) and a pink towel someone left in my room.

 

Above was stick, G-nib, brush, and screentone.

 

Above was dip pen, stick, and towel

 

Above was everything. Pen, brush, stick, towel.

By popular demand (well okay one guy, thanks Steve, said I should try doing some) I am offering a limited selection of super awesome, highly collectible SKETCH CARDS! SNIFF!

So I did this story in 2004? I think. It's been a long while. And I did it for the Sequential Art department's anthology "Senses". I did it with a nod to the manga genius Taiyo Matsumoto. If you haven't read anything from him, you should. Programming note, read from the top down. enjoy, Dove.

I got PWNED-YO!

So I did this mainly for my sons, they LOVE Ponyo. Like, watch it continuously, love it. Thank God it's an awesome movie because that means I have to watch almost as much as they do. So I wanted to do something they could hang in their room. It's all traditional media, ink, copic marker (and copic airbrush system), watercolor, and acrylic paint. Below you'll also find the un-colored line art. Also two years ago I had the once in a lifetime honor to actually go to Ghibli studios, talk about a jaw dropping experience, and in the pic below is L-R Youichi Watanabe (of Studio Ghibli), and Koji Takeuchai (president of TMS Animation), me, Ray Goto, Sharon Sakai, David Duncan, & Stan Sakai.
